Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 5-6 pounds standing rib roast Ensure the roast is of good quality.
  • to taste Salt Freshly ground for best flavor.
  • to taste Black pepper Freshly ground for best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic powder
  • optional Fresh rosemary Add for an herby twist.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Pat the prime rib dry with paper towels.
  • Generously rub the roast with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Optionally add chopped fresh rosemary.

Roasting

  • Place the seasoned roast in a roasting pan with the fat side facing up. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the meat.
  • Roast for about 20 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C). Cook until the thermometer reads 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Resting

  • Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Don’t skip resting the meat; it keeps the juices inside. A meat thermometer is essential for perfect cooking.
