Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets (or your choice of veggies)
  • ¼ cup teriyaki sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the Rice: Start by cooking your rice according to package instructions. This will usually take about 15-20 minutes.
  • Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the shrimp, seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until they turn pink, around 3-4 minutes.
  • Add Sauce and Veggies: When the shrimp are nearly done, pour in the teriyaki sauce and add broccoli florets. Stir everything together, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly while the broccoli steams, which should take about 3 minutes.
  • Assemble Your Bowls: Serve the shrimp and veggies over a bed of rice. For an extra touch, garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Don’t worry if your sauce looks a little lumpy; it’s all part of the magic! If you want a little spice, add a dash of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of sriracha to the teriyaki sauce!
