Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries You can also use frozen, but fresh is best!
  • 1 cup heavy cream Because we deserve the best!
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Or a tad less if you prefer it less sweet.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract A little warmth never hurt anyone!
  • 1 pinch salt Just a pinch! It works wonders to balance the sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by rinsing the strawberries. Remove the green tops and slice them into halves or quarters.
  • In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with about 1/4 cup of sugar. Allow them to sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.
  • Pour your syrupy strawberries into the ice cream base and stir until evenly mixed.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it’s thick and creamy.
  • Transfer the freshly churned ice cream to a container and freeze for at least 2-4 hours to set.
  • Scoop out the ice cream into bowls, top with sliced fresh strawberries, and a sprinkle of crushed nuts if desired.

Notes

If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and stir every 30 minutes to keep it fluffy. Swap strawberries for your favorite fruit for variations!
