Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pounds king crab legs (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 whole lemon, cut into wedges
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter for dipping, because why not?
  • Seasoned salt or Old Bay seasoning optional, but highly recommended for that extra kick
  • Fresh parsley for garnish, optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Fill a large pot with around an inch or two of water. Place a steamer basket inside, making sure it doesn’t touch the water.
  • Cover the pot and bring the water to a rapid boil over high heat.
  • If your crab legs are frozen, give them a quick rinse in cold water to remove any ice crystals. If they’re fresh, they’re ready to go.
  • Place the crab legs in the steamer basket, arranging them to fit.

Cooking

  • Cover the pot again and steam the crab legs for about 6-8 minutes until the meat turns a bright, irresistible orange.

Serving

  • Carefully remove the crab legs from the pot using tongs or oven mitts.
  • Serve immediately with melted butter and lemon wedges for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

If using frozen crab legs, the best method to thaw them is overnight in the fridge. Alternatively, submerge in cold water for about 30 minutes. Use a meat mallet or the backside of a sturdy knife to crack the shells if needed. Experiment with garlic or herbs in the melted butter for unique flavors.
