Ingredients

For the Bagel

  • 1 piece bagel (your choice—plain, everything, or onion)

For the Filling

  • 1/4 pound flank steak Seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 1 piece egg Cooked sunny-side-up or over-easy
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese Use your favorite cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter For frying the egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional a splash of hot sauce For a spicy kick

Instructions

Cook the Steak

  • Season the flank steak with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook your steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side, depending on your desired doneness. Once cooked, let it rest and slice it thinly against the grain.

Fry the Egg

  • In another skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter. Crack the egg into the skillet, sprinkle with salt, and cook sunny-side-up or flip for over-easy.

Toast the Bagel

  • Split and toast the bagel until golden brown.

Assemble the Bagel

  • Start with the bottom half of your toasted bagel; add cheese, layer on sliced steak, and top with the fried egg. If desired, add a splash of hot sauce.

Enjoy!

  • Marvel at your creation and dig in. Optionally, pair it with coffee or a smoothie.

Notes

Keep an eye on your skillet while multitasking to cut down prep time. Customize your bagel and protein for variety.
