  • 2 pounds fresh green beans or two cans of green beans
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese optional

Preparation

  • If you’re using fresh green beans, trim the ends and cut them into bite-sized pieces. If you’re using canned green beans, simply drain them.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until the mixture is well blended.
  • Gently fold in the green beans and half of the crispy fried onions into the creamy mixture.

Baking

  • Transfer the green bean mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining crispy fried onions all over the top.
  • If you’re feeling cheesy, sprinkle in the cheddar cheese.
  • Place your casserole in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of garlic powder or crushed red pepper flakes. Can be assembled a day in advance and baked just before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
