Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Add-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips or more if desired

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Scoop generous portions of dough (about 3 tablespoons each) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden but the centers are slightly undercooked.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for about an hour before baking to enhance flavors and achieve thicker cookies. Cookies will continue to cook after being taken out of the oven; keep them soft in the center.
