Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs Can substitute with crushed crackers or oatmeal.
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion Adds flavor to the meatballs.
  • 1 large egg Helps bind the meatballs.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Mushroom Gravy
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced Cremini or button mushrooms work well.
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced Provides additional flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Used for thickening the gravy.
  • 2 cups beef broth Use low sodium for a healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Roll the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cooking
  1. Bake the meatballs in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until browned.
  2. While the meatballs are baking, heat a large skillet over medium heat and sauté sliced mushrooms and diced onion until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture, stirring constantly for a minute. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until gravy thickens.
  4. Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet with the gravy and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve the Salisbury Steak Meatballs over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta, topped with mushroom gravy.

Notes

Feel free to add your favorite spices like thyme or rosemary. You can also sneak in shredded carrots or spinach for added nutrition.
