Ingredients

For the cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Use the recommended eggs, oil, and water from the mix

For the peanut butter swirl

  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter Creamy works best
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For topping

  • 1-1.5 cups chopped Reese’s cups Generous amount recommended
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or peanut butter chips Optional but excellent

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 pan thoroughly.
  • Mix the chocolate cake batter according to the instructions on the box and pour it into the greased pan.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Mix in the peanut butter and vanilla until creamy.
  • Spoon the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate cake batter. Add chopped Reese’s on top and swirl gently with a butter knife, being careful not to over mix.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes or until the edges are set but the center remains slightly soft.
  • Let cool for at least 20 minutes before cutting.

Notes

For clean slices, consider chilling the cake for an hour before cutting. This cake tastes great warm or cold, and can be served with ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
