Ingredients
  

For the Potato Straws

  • 4 large large potatoes Peeled and thinly sliced
  • Oil for frying Use enough to submerge the potato slices
  • Salt To taste
  • Optional spices Paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor

Preparation

  • Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly aiming for paper-thin slices.
  • Soak the potato slices in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  • Drain and dry the potato slices thoroughly with a kitchen towel.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat (about 350°F or 175°C).
  • Carefully add a handful of dried potato slices to the hot oil and fry in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Transfer the cooked potato straws to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil and immediately sprinkle with salt or spices.

Serving

  • Serve warm and enjoy the crispy delights!

Notes

Don’t skip the soaking step for maximum crunch! Feel free to experiment with different spices. You can also bake the potato straws at 425°F (220°C) for a healthier option.
