Ingredients

Crust

  • 1.75 cups graham cracker crumbs Use finely crushed for a better crust
  • 0.5 cups sugar Granulated sugar works best
  • 1/3 cups unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is fully melted for even mixing

Filling

  • 4 packages (8-ounce) cream cheese, softened Let it come to room temperature for easy mixing
  • 1.25 cups sugar Adjust sugar based on sweetness preference
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for best flavor
  • 4 large eggs Make sure eggs are at room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt Greek yogurt can lighten the texture
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream Opt for heavy whipping cream for richness

Toppings (optional)

  • Fresh berries or a fruit compote Choose seasonal fruits for best taste
  • Whipped cream Lightly sweetened whipped cream works well
  • Chocolate shavings Use dark chocolate for a rich finish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Pour in the melted butter and mix until the crumbs are moistened.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan, creating a snug base for your cheesecake. Bake for about 10 minutes until lightly golden. Let it cool while you prepare the filling.

Making the Cheesecake Filling

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s silky smooth. Add in sugar and vanilla extract and beat until well blended.
  • One at a time, add in the eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the sour cream and heavy cream until the mixture is luscious and creamy.

Baking and Cooling

  • Pour the cheesecake filling over the crust in the springform pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes, or until the center is just set. Turn off the oven and crack open the door, letting the cheesecake cool gradually for an hour.
  • Remove from the oven, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (or overnight if you can resist!).

The Grand Finish

  • When you’re ready to serve, top with your choice of fresh berries, a dollop of whipped cream, or chocolate shavings for that extra touch of paradise.

Notes

Don’t rush the cooling process! Letting your cheesecake cool gradually prevents cracks. Soften your cream cheese for easier mixing, and always use a springform pan for easy removal and presentation.
