Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (not self-rising)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (for sweetness)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (whole, low-fat, or almond milk)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • Pour in the milk and olive oil, and mix until just combined.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead for about 1 minute.
  • Shape the dough into a loaf.
  • Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

You can add herbs like rosemary or thyme for extra flavor. Avoid overworking the dough to keep it light and fluffy. Store leftovers in plastic wrap for up to 2 days.
