For the crust

  • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted

For the creamy layer

  • 2 cups cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

For layering

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 cups crushed pineapple, drained
  • 0.5 cups chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • Chocolate syrup for drizzling
  • Maraschino cherries for garnish optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press firmly into a 9x13 inch baking dish to form a crust.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  • Carefully fold in the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the crust, then layer half of the sliced bananas and half of the crushed pineapple, followed by chopped nuts. Repeat this process with the remaining ingredients.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup and top with maraschino cherries.
  • Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

If you want your bananas to hold up better, toss them with a little lemon juice before layering. This cake is perfect for making a day in advance.
