Ingredients

For the Lasagna

  • 3 cups cooked ground beef or Italian sausage for a flavor kick!
  • 2 cups marinara sauce homemade or store-bought, no judgment here!
  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles you can use no-boil for convenience
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it's cooked through. Drain any excess fat, then add the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • In a rectangular baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top, spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, and sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella. Repeat the layering process.
  • End with the remaining noodles topped with meat sauce and the final layer of mozzarella.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top, then bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Allow the lasagna to rest for about 10 minutes before serving hot, garnished with fresh basil.

Notes

Use no-boil noodles for convenience. Feel free to mix in veggies like spinach or mushrooms. If your cheese looks a little lumpy, it's part of the charm!
