Ingredients
  

Noodles

  • 8 ounces Lo Mein noodles (or spaghetti) Spaghetti can be used as a substitute.

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Alternatively, use sesame oil for more flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Essential for flavor.
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, and broccoli) Feel free to customize based on preference.

Protein

  • 1 cup cooked protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu) Choose your favorite protein.

Sauces and Garnishes

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Optional, but recommended for depth.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds For garnish.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Noodles

  • Begin by boiling a pot of water. Add your Lo Mein noodles and cook them according to the package instructions until tender. Drain and set aside, reserving a splash of the noodle water.

Sautéing

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the mixed vegetables to the skillet and sauté for 3-5 minutes until vibrant and slightly tender.

Combining Ingredients

  • Add the cooked protein and toss everything together gently.
  • Toss in the cooked noodles, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and reserved noodle water. Stir well to coat each noodle in sauce.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat everything through. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and toss again.

Notes

Customize your dish with whatever vegetables or proteins you have on hand. This dish makes excellent leftovers, storing well in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
