  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, powdered sugar, and salt. Mix until it forms a dough.
  • Transfer this dough to a greased 8x8-inch baking dish and press it evenly to form the bottom crust.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes or until it’s golden brown.

Make the Caramel Filling

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and sugar together.
  • Stir in the cream and vanilla extract, and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the mixture becomes bubbly and thickens slightly, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and fold in the chopped pecans.
  • Spread the filling over the baked crust.

Final Baking

  • Pop the entire dish back into the oven for another 20-25 minutes until the top is beautifully golden and bubbly.
