Fudge Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups chopped apples (preferably Granny Smith) Provides a tart flavor
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch sea salt for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  • Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, and heavy cream. Stir continuously until boiling.
  • Allow the mixture to boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the caramel bits until melted.
  • Mix in the chopped apples and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top.
  • Let the fudge cool completely at room temperature for about 2 hours.

Serving

  • Once cooled, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang and cut into squares.
  • Enjoy this delightful treat!

Notes

Chop your apples finely for the best texture. If caramel is lumpy, keep stirring until smooth. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
