  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounces)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the green beans for about 5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Drain and cool them in an ice bath.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  • In another casserole dish, mix the cooked green beans with the creamy sauce. Stir until every bean is coated.

Baking

  • Spread half the crispy fried onions on top of the casserole. Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes or until it’s bubbling.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle the remaining fried onions on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Notes

Don’t skip the ice bath to keep the green beans vibrant. You can personalize the casserole with shredded cheese or slivers of almonds for added flavor.
