  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips or dried fruit (or both) Surprise ingredient

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Cream them together until fluffy—about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add vanilla extract and whisked eggs to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until well blended.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture until fully combined. Fold in the chopped nuts and your surprise ingredient.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
  • Bake for about 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just slightly golden.

Cooling and Enjoying

  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Enjoy your delightful bites of nostalgia!

Notes

You can chill the dough for about 30 minutes before scooping it to help the flavors meld. Feel free to swap in alternate add-ins like coconut, toffee bits, or caramel chunks. Don’t stress over perfect cookie shapes; a 'rustic' look gives them homemade charm.
