Main ingredients

  • 4 large croissants Day-old croissants work best!
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For coating the donuts
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For flavoring
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil For frying

  • favorite icing For extra flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Slice each croissant in half to create half-moon shapes or cut out the center with a cookie cutter for ring shapes.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the sugar and cinnamon.

Cooking

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or large skillet over medium heat until hot but not smoking (around 350°F).
  • Fry the croissant halves (or rings) in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  • While still warm, roll the fried croissant donuts in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.

Decoration

  • Drizzle with chocolate glaze or add sprinkles if desired.

Notes

Don’t skip checking the oil temperature, and consider frying in smaller batches for even cooking. Customize flavors as preferred.
