Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bag Doritos (flavor of your choice; nacho cheese is a classic!)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (like Monterey Jack or cheddar) Feel free to experiment with different cheeses!
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Dipping Options

  • to taste salsa or guacamole Optional for dipping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line up your ingredients: Grab three bowls for the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Don't forget your Doritos.
  • Carefully take a Dorito and make a small pocket at the base with your fingers. Stuff about a tablespoon of cheese inside each Dorito. Repeat this for about half the bag.

Coating

  • Dip each stuffed Dorito first into the flour, then the egg, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs. Place them on a plate until you're ready to fry.

Frying

  • In a large frying pan, heat about an inch of oil over medium heat. Test if it's hot enough by dropping in a breadcrumb; if it sizzles, you're ready to go.
  • Carefully place a few stuffed Doritos in the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb the excess oil.

Serving

  • Plate them up with salsa or guacamole for dipping and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different cheeses! Use a fork or tongs to fry your Doritos to avoid burning your fingers. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, but they won't be as crispy after reheating.
