Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup French onion dip Adds flavor
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
  • Fresh parsley, for garnishing (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by giving your slow cooker a quick spray with non-stick cooking spray for easy clean-up.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onions, French onion dip, breadcrumbs, beaten eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until it’s well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf that fits nicely into your slow cooker.

Cooking

  • Cover your slow cooker and set it on low for about 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  • About 15 minutes before serving, remove the lid and lay the slices of Swiss cheese over the top of the meatloaf. Cover the slow cooker again to melt the cheese.

Serving

  • Carefully lift the meatloaf from the slow cooker and transfer it to a serving platter. You can slice it up or serve it whole.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

The French onion dip adds a level of flavor you won’t want to miss. For picky eaters, you can finely chop or sauté the onions to mellow out their flavor. Cold meatloaf sandwiches make great leftovers.
