Preparation

  • Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Mixing Time: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  • Knead Away: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • The First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Divide and Shape: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead in the chocolate chips. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
  • Second Rise: Place the dough balls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Dough Too Sticky? Add flour gradually. For best results, let your dough rise in a warm area.
