Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour Adjust as needed for dough consistency.
  • Olive oil for greasing

For Decoration

  • Sliced almonds or green olives Used for fingernails.
  • Paprika or garlic powder For seasoning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Add salt and 4 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined. If the dough is sticky, gradually add more flour until it becomes soft and pliable.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until it has doubled in size (about 1 hour).

Shaping & Baking

  • Once risen, punch the dough down and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a long, thin shape to resemble fingers, about 6-8 inches long.
  • Make a little bend in each finger to create knuckles. Place sliced almonds or green olives at one end to represent fingernails.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place the fingers on a greased baking sheet, sprinkle with paprika or garlic powder, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  • Let them cool a bit, then serve alongside your favorite dip or soup.

Notes

If you want extra flavor, consider adding herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough. For a spookier effect, create a 'bloody' dip using marinara or a spicy sauce.
