Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk (or heavy cream) For extra indulgence.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel and cube the potatoes. Rinse them off to remove any excess starch.

Cooking

  • Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot, cover with water, and add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Heat a pan over medium-low heat and sauté the minced garlic in melted butter for about 2-3 minutes, until fragrant and golden.
  • Once the potatoes are done, drain them and return them to the pot. Add the sautéed garlic and butter mixture, along with the milk, salt, and pepper. Use a potato masher or an electric mixer to mash everything together until creamy and smooth.

Serving

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Spoon onto plates and enjoy!

Notes

Make it ahead: Prepare your mashed potatoes in advance and store in the fridge until ready to serve. Simply warm them up with a splash of milk for creaminess.
Flavor variations: Add cheese, herbs, or crispy bacon bits for extra flavor. Avoid over-mashing for the fluffiest results.
