Ingredients

Prawn Coating

  • 1 lb prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Honey Glaze

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

For Frying and Garnish

  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh green onions, for garnish optional
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Pat the prawns dry with paper towels.
  • Set up three shallow dishes: one with seasoned flour, one with beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.

Coating

  • Dip each prawn into the flour, then the egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.

Frying

  • Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add prawns in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove from pan and let them drain on paper towels.

Making the Glaze

  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, minced ginger, and garlic.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until well mixed and slightly thickened.

Serving

  • Toss the crispy prawns in the glaze until coated. Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Feel free to customize the glaze with lime juice or chili flakes for a kick. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, but expect them to lose some crispiness upon reheating.
