Ingredients
  

For the Fried Brie

  • 1 wheel Brie cheese (about 8 oz) Cut in half horizontally.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular) Your call!
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Season with salt and pepper.
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola About an inch deep in skillet.

For the Toppings

  • 1/4 cup pepper honey Plus extra for drizzling.
  • 1/2 cup mixed olives Consider kalamata and green.
  • 1 medium lemon Zest and juice.
  • Fresh herbs to taste like rosemary or thyme
  • 3-4 slices prosciutto

Preparation

  • Cut the Brie in half horizontally.
  • Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs.
  • Dredge each half of the Brie in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • In a deep skillet, heat about an inch of oil over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is ready, gently place the breaded Brie into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • In a small pan, warm the olives with a splash of olive oil, lemon zest, juice, and herbs over medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Plating

  • On a serving platter, arrange the crispy Brie, warm olives, and prosciutto slices.
  • Drizzle with pepper honey for added flavor.

Notes

Keep an eye on the oil temperature while frying. If you can’t find pepper honey, mix regular honey with red pepper flakes. Pairs well with a crisp white wine.
