Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice leftover works best for crispiness
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for an extra kick
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper

Optional Ingredients

  • favorite vegetables (peas, carrots, bell peppers) optional
  • favorite proteins (chicken, shrimp) optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • If you're using leftover rice, make sure it's cold. Day-old rice is your friend here! It gets crispier and avoids turning mushy.
  • In a large bowl, combine the rice with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until everything is well coated. If you’re feeling adventurous, add in your favorite veggies or proteins at this stage.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Spread the rice mixture in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  • After about 10 minutes, peek in to see if it’s crispy enough for your liking—feel free to add another few minutes if you want it extra crispy.

Serving

  • Once done, remove it from the air fryer, let it cool slightly, and then dig in! This crispy delight is fantastic on its own but can also top a salad or accompany your favorite protein.

Notes

Leftover rice is key for the best texture. Don't overcrowd the air fryer for optimal crispiness. You can experiment with flavors by adding soy sauce or Parmesan cheese for enhanced flavor.
