Ingredients

Egg Ingredients

  • 6 large large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Can substitute with regular mustard
  • to taste salt and pepper

Decoration Ingredients

  • black olives For decoration, cut in half to resemble eyeballs.
  • red food coloring Optional, for added spookiness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil the Eggs: Start by placing the eggs in a saucepan and covering them with water. Bring the water to a boil, cover the pot, and then turn off the heat. Let them sit for about 12 minutes.
  • Peel the Eggs: Once cool, peel those eggs under some cold running water.
  • Slice and Scoop: Cut the eggs in half lengthwise. Gently pop out the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix it Up: To the yolks, add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  • Fill the Eggs: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  • Make it Spooky: Cut the black olives in half and place them on top of the yolks to resemble creepy eyeballs. Optionally, dip the olives in red food coloring.
  • Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the deviled eggs for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use older eggs for easier peeling. Consider adding tiny pieces of peppercorns or a drizzle of sriracha for an extra creepy factor. For a lighter twist, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
