Cooking the Rice

  • Cook your rice according to the package instructions. For extra flavor, replace water with chicken broth.

Sautéing the Shrimp

  • In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Place the shrimp in a single layer, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside.

Making the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in lemon zest and let it cook until slightly thickened.
  • Add a splash of white wine for extra flavor if desired.

Combining and Serving

  • Return the shrimp to the skillet, stir until well-coated with the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  • Fluff rice with a fork, plate it, and spoon the creamy shrimp mixture over the top. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the shrimp to prevent a rubbery texture. Add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
