For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon Optional but recommended for autumn flavor
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups diced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Stir in the milk, melted butter, and eggs until everything is combined.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples until well-distributed.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth it out.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Glazing

  • While your cake cools, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the glaze over it and cut into squares.

Notes

For added texture, consider adding chopped walnuts or pecans. Serve warm with ice cream for an indulgent dessert. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
