Ingredients
  

Candy Base

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract The essential flavor of the candy.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring For festive coloring.

Topping

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips For drizzling on top.
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies For added crunch and decoration.

Preparation

  • Grease a 9x9-inch pan or line it with parchment paper.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Once it begins to boil, stop stirring and let it bubble for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches 300°F.

Flavoring

  • Remove from heat and quickly add peppermint extract and red food coloring. Stir well.

Setting

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and let it cool completely.

Chocolate Topping

  • Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Once the mint candy is cool and firm, pour the melted chocolate over the top and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over the chocolate.

Final Steps

  • Allow the chocolate to harden and then cut into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. You can substitute corn syrup with agave syrup, but textures may vary.
