Ingredients
  

For the Base

  • 40 crackers 40 Saltine crackers

For the Toffee

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (two sticks)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

For the Topping

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) For extra crunch

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire sheet.

Make the Toffee

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil. Let it boil for about 3 minutes without stirring.

Pour the Toffee

  • Pour the bubbling toffee mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbly and golden.

Add the Chocolate

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips on top. Wait a few minutes for them to melt, then spread evenly with a spatula.

Top it Off

  • Sprinkle chopped nuts or sea salt on top if desired for extra flavor and texture.

Chill and Break

  • Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature, or chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Once set, break into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

Try adding peppermint crunch or colorful holiday sprinkles on top for a festive touch. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
