Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate (preferably 70% cocoa)
  • 150 g unsalted butter
  • 250 g sugar
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 150 g flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round cake pan.
  • In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together. Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy. Slowly pour in the melted chocolate and butter, stirring to combine.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into the chocolaty mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes. The cake should have a slightly moist center.
  • Let the cake cool before carefully removing it from the pan. Enjoy it plain or with a dollop of whipped cream for an extra treat.

Notes

Don't overmix when combining your dry ingredients with the wet. For a deeper chocolate flavor, add a splash of espresso or some nuts for a delightful crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or in the fridge for up to a week.
