Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.75 cups unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for best flavor
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs Room temperature
- 1 cup whole milk Room temperature
- 0.5 cups vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water Add carefully
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.
Baking
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
- Remove from the oven and let cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Frost with your favorite chocolate frosting. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
