Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons) Make sure yeast is fresh.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar For activating yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F) This is important for activating the yeast.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted Plus extra for brushing.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded cheese Mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend.
  • 2-4 cloves garlic, minced Adjust based on preference.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped Optional for color.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  • Add the melted butter and salt to your yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the flour until it forms a soft dough.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • While the dough rises, mix the minced garlic with the shredded cheese and parsley in a small bowl.

Shaping & Baking

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  • Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the dough, then roll it tightly from one end to the other.
  • Slice the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
  • Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F during this time.
  • Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown.
  • Immediately brush the tops with melted butter after removing them from the oven.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in a low oven to restore freshness.
