Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak (sliced against the grain)
  • 1 cup green beans (trimmed)
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced; button or shiitake works perfectly)

Marinade

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for that perfect crispy texture
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse your green beans and trim off the ends. Slice the mushrooms and flank steak against the grain. Mince the garlic.

Marinating

  • In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, black pepper, cornstarch, and water. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  • Add minced garlic, green beans, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until beans are bright green and mushrooms are tender.
  • Once cooked through, give everything a good stir and add more black pepper if desired.

Serving

  • Plate the dish hot and serve over rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

Substitute flank steak with sirloin or chicken if preferred. You can also replace mushrooms as desired. Add red pepper flakes for extra heat if you like!
