Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 piece fully cooked, bone-in ham (about 7-10 pounds)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey adds sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves optional, but adds depth
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper provides a perfect kick

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (about 162°C).
  • Remove the ham from its packaging, rinse it under cold water, and pat it dry with paper towels.
  • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, cutting through the fat but not into the meat.

Making the Glaze

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble (about 5 minutes).
  • Brush the glaze over the scored surface of the ham generously.

Baking

  • Place the ham in a roasting pan, adding a bit of water at the bottom to keep it moist. Cover loosely with aluminum foil.
  • Bake for about 15-18 minutes per pound. About 30 minutes before it’s done, remove the foil to let the glaze caramelize.
  • Check the internal temperature; it should reach 140°F. Let it rest for 15 minutes before carving.
  • Slice and serve, enjoying the compliments from your guests.

Notes

Feel free to add herbs or fruits like pineapple rings or rosemary for an extra twist. If you have leftovers, wrap tightly and store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
