  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup ketchup (with a little extra for topping)
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup cooked bacon, crumbled more bacon is always better
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat the Oven: Crank up that oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s ready to work its magic.
  • Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper. Mix it gently but thoroughly.
  • Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture onto a lined baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf, about 2 inches thick.
  • Add That Topping: Spread a generous layer of ketchup over the top of your meatloaf.
  • Bake Away: Pop that meatloaf into the preheated oven and let it bake for about 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Rest and Serve: Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Feel free to swap in different cheeses or add in your favorite seasonings. Make it ahead and store for later use!
