  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon A key ingredient for apple pie flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg Optional, adds extra flavor.

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil Can substitute with melted butter.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended.
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans Optional, for added crunch.
  • ¼ cup brown sugar For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In another bowl, mix the eggs, oil, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and gently stir until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples and nuts (if using).

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Once done, allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use store-bought apples for convenience, but fresh-picked apples yield the best flavor. Cover leftovers tightly in plastic wrap to keep fresh, or freeze for up to three months.
