Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 large large eggs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup cola
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adjust according to taste
  • 1 piece star anise optional for extra flavor
  • to taste chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Hard Boil the Eggs: Place the eggs in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10-12 minutes. Once done, transfer them to a bowl of ice water to cool.
  • Peel the Eggs: Once they’re cool, gently crack the eggshells and peel them under running water.

Marinating

  • Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, cola, sugar, and if you’re feeling adventurous, toss in a star anise. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Marinate: Place the peeled eggs in a ziplock bag or container and pour the marinade over them. Ensure they’re fully submerged. Let them marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, but overnight is ideal.

Serving

  • Once marinated, slice the eggs in half and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve as is or on top of a rice bowl.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to your preference; experiment with other spices like garlic or ginger; can prepare in advance and keep in refrigerator for about a week.
