Ingredients

For the Casserole

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Use your favorite brand of sausage.
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits Any brand of refrigerated biscuits will work.
  • 2 cups milk Whole milk is recommended for a creamier texture.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Optional, for an extra cheesy touch.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until it's browned and crumbled. Drain the excess fat and return it to the skillet.
  • Add the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to the sausage. Stir until everything is well combined.
  • Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens—this will create your creamy gravy.
  • Cut each biscuit into quarters and place them evenly in the greased casserole dish.
  • Pour the sausage and gravy mixture over the biscuits, ensuring even coverage.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if using.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and the gravy is bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a couple of minutes before serving, and enjoy!

Notes

You can make the gravy ahead of time and store it in the fridge to cut down on prep time. To store leftovers, use an airtight container and refrigerate for up to three days.
