
Xtra Time Web Desk. A setback for the Indian team management, KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat injured themselves. Both underwent scans to determine the nature of the injury. Scan reports are expected to be available on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The Indian team has already been plagued by injuries to key players. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are all undergoing rehabilitation. With just a month to go before the World Test Cup finals starting next month on June 7, the Indian team management is sweating over the fitness of KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat.
According to images on social media, Unadkat has his arm in a sling with an ice pack on his left shoulder. It is known that there is no move and the left-arm paceman will remain in Lucknow. Lucknow Super Giants are in touch with the BCCI medical staff to decide the next course of action.
Rahul’s injury also does not appear to be serious as he did not need to be carried off on a stretcher. If he were to tear a hamstring, he could be sidelined for a long time. Cricketer from Karnataka to wear gloves in WTC final match against Australia.
The BCCI has until May 22 to appoint a replacement if he is ruled out. Options to replace KL Rahul include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan. Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and possibly Ishant Sharma could be brought back if Unadkat misses out.
