Twitch is raising the prices of its ad-free Turbo service

Be prepared to pay a bit more to watch live streams without being interrupted by commercials. Twitch’s ad-free Turbo subscription plan raises its price from $9 to $12 per month in the US. Twitch has not offered any feature changes or additions to accompany this price increase. The monthly cost of Turbo increases worldwide with the modified price for your country.

Current Turbo subscribers were notified of the price changes in an email sent out Thursday, but there’s good news for longtime users. Some countries boast a new lower monthly price, though you’ll have to cancel and re-subscribe. Also, current users get a three-month grace period before they have to switch to the new price. New subscribers do not receive such a grace period.

This significant increase comes just after Amazon-owned Twitch got a new CEO and laid off around 400 employees as part of its parent company. While no new features were announced with the price hike, Twitch stated that updates are “on the way to make Turbo even better and more relevant.” Look for more information in the “coming months.”

Turbo’s main staple is an ad-free experience across the entire Twitch platform, but it also offers smaller perks like more emojis, colors for chat usernames, and increased stream storage. The updated pricing model starts today.
