What was your motivation? What lifestyle changes have you made to achieve results?
I was on this roller coaster for years with my weight until I decided to do something to improve my health. In October 2022 I went to the doctor for my physical and my PCP told me my numbers were in the diabetic range, I had high blood pressure and I was too short to be this overweight. ALL THAT SAID…THAT WAS MY MOTIVATION. I HAD TO DO WHAT FOR MY HEALTH!

My doctor told me that he would have to put me on medication this time because my numbers were also in the diabetic range at my previous visit. He put me on a very low dose (once a week) called a shot Mounjaro. I was very afraid of the shot because I had never heard of it, but my PCP said the benefits outweighed the risks.

Then I went to the grocery store to get more healthy food options so I could change my eating habits. My doctor sent me to a diabetes nutritionist to help me get back on track. I started eating more baked chicken, fish, vegetables, and whey protein shakes. I have given up eating sweets and carbs.

My doctor kept me on a low dose vaccine and said. “I want to see you in three months for an investigation.” My starting weight was 193 pounds and I’m only 4’10”.

When I went back to see him in January 2023, I weighed 168 pounds. I lost 25 pounds in three months. My A1C went from 7.2 to 6.5, but I wasn’t out of the woods yet. So I started walking more and using dumbbells.

When I came back again in April 2023, I weighed 157 pounds. I lost another 11 pounds in 3 months. Guess what? My A1C went from 6.5 to 5.4 and my blood pressure numbers looked great (YAYYYYYY!)

I did it in 7 months. I also see my diabetes nutritionist twice a month. I thank GOD and I feel amazing. All my clothes are too big. It feels so good to be back in my clothes that were once too small.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that WE MUST TAKE CONTROL OF OUR HEALTH OR IT WILL BE OUR CONTROL.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to NEVER give up. You need to take control of your health.
