Phils claim RHP Dylan Covey off waivers from Dodgers

It Philadelphia Phillies Right-hander Dylan Covey was waived by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday

The team placed first baseman Darrick Hall (thumb) on the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

It Phillies Also changed the relievers, recalling Junior Marte from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and sending down fellow right-hander Erich Wellman.

Covey, 31, was designated for assignment on May 18, one day after making his Dodgers debut. He allowed two runs on five hits in four innings of relief against the Minnesota Twins.

Covey has a career record of 6-29 in 72 games (45 starts) with a 6.54 ERA with the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and Dodgers.

Hall, 27, landed on the 10-day IL on April 7th and had surgery to repair a ligament in his right thumb on April 12th. He played in six games before the injury, hitting .222 with one RBI.

Marte, 28, has no decisions in six appearances out of the Philadelphia bullpen this season and is in the 6 p.m.

Wellman has done his thing Phillies debut on his 27th birthday Friday and allowed four runs (one earned) in a 10-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
