The Kansas City Chiefs drew a lot of criticism when they signed Patrick Mahomes to a 10-year contract.
But so far so good for the organization, as the quarterback has long been enshrined as the best player in the league, and they’ve even won a Super Bowl since.
Now, word around the league is that the Chiefs want to make Mahomes the league’s highest-paid quarterback again.
And while he clearly likes the money, he recently revealed that his motivation isn’t to be the highest earner, but to raise the bar and do right by his colleagues.
“No. No,” Mahomes said. “It’s more of a thing, you just want to do what you can so you don’t hurt the other defenders when their contracts come up. You want to kind of hold the bar. It’s not about being the highest paid guy. It’s not about making a ton of money. I’ve made enough money to last me the rest of my life.

Mahomes already has plenty of cash to spare and his dad used to play in Major League Baseball, so it’s not like he grew up poor or anything.
Obviously, the best players in the game should be treated as such, and no one will ever complain about Mahomes getting a huge bag again; he’s proven to be worth it.
But Tom Brady also proved to the league that sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the team if you want to compete at the highest level and be a contender for years to come, so Mahomes can take a page out of his book as well. at some point in his career.
The Chiefs will continue to be the team to win the league until proven otherwise, so they will happily pay every penny they have to to keep their star player happy.
