JioCinema to merge with Voot after IPL 2023 ends; Reports

Indian media conglomerate and Indian Premier League 2023-27 digital rights holder Viacom18 will reportedly announce a merger between JioCinema and Voot after the ongoing IPL 2023.

According to the information obtained by reference to the sources, the procedure has already started in the rear.

Before the competition, it was reported in January that the conglomerate, apparently, will also be rebranded.

In early March, the media broadcasting baron announced that the 2023 edition of this Indian T20 league will be free to watch on the JioCinema app for all users across various telecom networks.

Viacom18 or Viacom18 Media Private Limited is a Mumbai-based media company founded in 2007 and currently operates as a joint venture between Network18 Group, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, and Paramount Global. Last year, in the media rights auction for the IPL, this Indian media company won the league’s digital rights bid for INR 48,390. The broadcaster has also acquired rights to various sports tournaments and leagues around the world such as FIFA World Cup 2022, SA20, Olympic Games Paris 2024, Women’s Premier League (WPL), Indian Super League (ISL), Premier Handball League (PHL), MotoGP and many other sporting events.
