Apple has posted dozens of job listings focused on artificial intelligence in recent months, signaling that the company may be ramping up its efforts in an area that could transform its flagship product.
The Cupertino, California-based tech giant is currently advertising at least 88 AI-related jobs on its job portal. The roles span areas including visual generative modeling, active intelligence and applied AI research.
One listing says the job will be part of a team that will “shape how generative AI technologies transform Apple’s mobile computing platforms,” hinting at expanded AI capabilities for iPhones and other devices in the near future.

The job listings offer a glimpse into Apple’s AI ambitions, even as the company remains tight-lipped about any specific plans. Apple CEO Tim Cook declined to discuss product roadmaps during a recent Q2 call when asked about Apple’s AI strategy, but said the technology presents “tremendous” opportunities.

Similarly, one job post states that “AI is a huge opportunity to enhance Apple products and experiences for billions of people around the world.” The listing says the role will involve “using the first cutting-edge generative models to deliver extraordinary products, services and customer experiences for iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, iPad and more.”
Generative AI has become an active area of research and development for many of the largest technology companies. Google, Microsoft, Meta and others have released updates to the AI systems that can generate spoken text, photos and code, as well as the infrastructure on which these systems run. However, the technology is not without risks, such as the possibility of bias in artificial intelligence systems and the inadvertent publication of confidential data.
In recent months, Apple has restricted employees from using certain external AI tools, such as ChatGPT and GitHub’s Copilot, according to a recent disclosure. Wall Street Journal report. Apple told employees not to use the tools because they could expose confidential data, the report said.
