Tako should talk to users about TikToks while helping them discover more content. Tako appears to be TikTok’s attempt at another avenue for users to navigate the app. The chatbot is a fusion of TikTok’s search function and its terrifyingly accurate recommendation algorithm on the For You page. Watchful says Tako will collect user preferences to offer hyper-targeted and personalized content.
TikTok isn’t the only social media platform jumping into the chatbot bandwagon. Snapchat unveiled an AI chatbot called MyAI in February. At first, only users foolish enough to pay $3.99 for Snapchat Plus had access to the AI, but Snapchat disabled access for everyone in the app. April.
